Ole Gunnar Solskjaer calls for Man United 'family to stick together' as fans turn on Ed Woodward and Glazers

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pleaded with Manchester United fans to trust him after sections of Old Trafford turned on Ed Woodward and the Glazers.

Even a 4-0 win against Norwich City didn’t stop supporters from protesting against the club’s ownership and hierarchy.

Executive vice chairman, Woodward, and American owners, the Glazers, were subject to foul chants in the stands.

But Solskjaer insists the club must remain united, saying: “I am not sure if the players will get it (on the pitch), but I noticed it.

“As a club we have got to stick together and be a family.

“I can only say from when I’ve been here I’ve been backed by the owners, I’ve been backed by Ed and they’re supporting me. So for me, make sure they stick together.

“We are in all competitions. We are still in the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, we’re fifth in the league, still challenging, we’ve improved the position from last season, we’ve got Europa League.

“They’ve just got to believe me when I say I feel we are doing loads of good things behind the scenes. We are going in the right direction.

“See the group today - the attitude, the work-rate, that’s the core of the group that’s going to go forward.”

Solskjaer also hailed his team’s response to Tuesday’s humbling Carabao Cup semi final defeat to Manchester City.

“It was excellent,” he said. “I am very, very happy when the opposition manager can talk about how hard Manchester United are working and how the attitude is right.

“That is the key today – intensity and winning the ball back quickly when you have lost it. When you let Norwich play, they have got quality players. Today we got an excellent response.”
