Ole Gunnar Solskjaer asked about Manchester United's Paulo Dybala transfer talks

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was coy when asked about the possibility of Manchester United signing Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku's proposed move to Italy.

MEN Sport understands United have held talks with Juventus over the transfer of Dybala and the Argentine could move to Old Trafford either as a Lukaku replacement or in a swap deal.

United have so far only been table to complete the signings of Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer but hold an interest in Leicester's Harry Maguire as well as Dybala and Newcastle youngster Sean Longstaff. Solskjaer remains hopeful of bringing in "a fresh face or two" before the transfer window closes on August 8th.

“I’m not here to talk about any rumours or speculation about other team’s players," he said when asked specifically about Dybala, in the wake of United's 1-0 win over Kristiansund in Oslo,

But he then confirmed United were working on transfers with the intention of announcing deals in the next week or so.

He added: "But of course we’re working on one or two cases, as I’ve said before. There’s another ten days before we start the league and hopefully we can announce a fresh face or two."

On Lukaku, who hasn't played a single minute for United in pre-season - amid interest from Inter Milan and Juventus - Solskjaer hinted that "anything could happen".

“He got injured," he said reiterating why Lukaku didn't travel for the tour of Australia and Asia - though it is understood the Belgian was fit for selection for the Norway trip. "It was best for him to stay home. He wouldn’t have been able to play.

“Hopefully he might be able to train in the next couple of days, Rom. Let’ see what happens.

“You never know what happens in footbal. He’s not been able to train but he’s not been that bad that we had to send him home, we still had hope he was going to be fit to play in Australia, Shanghai and Singapore. But for this short trip, there was no point bringing him."
