Ole Gunnar Solskjaer annoyed with Marcus Rashford for incident in win at Brighton

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he had to have "a little bit of a go" at Marcus Rashford during Manchester United's eventful win at Brighton.

United emerged from the Amex Stadium as 3-2 winners after Bruno Fernandes scored from the penalty spot in the 10th minute of added time, with the spot-kick awarded for a offence which took place just seconds before the full-time whistle.

Referee Chris Kavanagh reviewed Neal Maupay's handball on the pitchside monitor, reversed his full-time whistle and pointed to the spot just moments after Solly March thought he'd earned a point for the Seagulls with a 95th minute header.

Rashford had earlier put United 2-1 ahead on the south coast, but Solskjaer admitted that United were fortunate at full-time.

"We got away with one," admitted Solskjaer after the match.

"When they equalised I thought that’s two points lost. Maybe one point was what we deserved – I don’t think we deserved more but the character we showed deserved more.

"They created too much for my liking but they’re a difficult side to play against, with really good ball players at the back.

"There is plenty of work (to do) but sometimes you’ve just got to take the points."

Rashford's goal came after a fine run and finish, but Solskjaer says he had to admonish him during a first half in which United struggled.

"He was getting better and better but I had a little bit of a go at him just halfway through the first half for a tackle he evaded," he said.

"But I think his reaction, his sharpness is getting better.

"He is more direct, his confidence is getting there, he scored a great goal and it was a great run and great finish for the one which was disallowed as well. I think Marcus will really kick on this season."
