Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits Manchester United did not deserve three points despite their 3-2 win at Brighton on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils led 2-1 heading into the second half's additional time but a 95th-minute header by Solly March levelled for the Seagulls with just seconds remaining.
However, United won a corner immediately after kick-off and, from the set piece, VAR awarded them a penalty for a handball by Neal Maupay.
Bruno Fernandes hammered the spot kick into the top corner to earn United victory despite the Red Devils being out-shot by 18 efforts to seven and having less of the ball at the Amex.
Speaking after the match, Solskjaer said his side lacked "sharpness" and admitted a draw would have been a fair result.
The Red Devils boss told BT Sport : “You can't sum up the drama. We got away with one to be fair, I have to say.
“When they equalised I thought that's two points lost, maybe one point was all we deserved. But I think the character that they showed deserved more.

“Last season we had too many draws, so this is a big plus for us. There's plenty of work to be done and the players know that.
“We got away with one and we know we need to improve a lot. Last week was disappointing and we didn't get anything from the game.”
Meanwhile, Brighton boss Graham Potter cut a crestfallen figure as he assessed his side's defeat in his post-match interview.
“I thought we were the better team, more shots, more chances, hit the woodwork a few times, but that's football, you have to accept it as much as it's painful," Potter said.
He added: “We are bitterly disappointed to concede like that after we delivered a brilliant performance.
“I thought we scored with the final kick of the game, so I'm not sure where the extra time came from, but that's the referee's decision.
“I'm still so proud of the way the players performed, I think we deserved something from the game.”
