Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits he's ready to use Man Utd youngsters in Premier League

Ole Gunnar Solskajer will not be afraid to send his Manchester United kids into Premier League combat after they came of age in Europe.

Solskjaer plunged teenagers James Garner and Brandon Williams into the red-hot atmosphere at Partizan Belgrade on Thursday night.

United won 1-0 to take a grip of their Europa League group – and both academy graduates are now in the frame to make their full Premier League debuts at Norwich on Sunday.

Solskjaer said: “You don't get the atmosphere we faced in Belgrade when you play in the Premier League and I think players like Brandon and Jimmy will have grown many centimetres in confidence in those 90 minutes.

“If they can perform like they did in front of such an intimidating crowd then they won't have any problems going anywhere in England.

“It was as loud and as hostile as it gets - but it didn't faze them one bit.

“But that's part of the learning curve we are on as a team.

“I really believe that we have gained two Premier League players in Belgrade - and I won't have any doubts about playing them at Norwich.”

Manchester-born Williams, 19, has made five appearances this season but the left-back's only Premier League experience was as a last-minute substitute in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool last weekend.

Garner, the 18-year-old midfielder born in Birkenhead, had a brief substitute appearance against Crystal Palace last season, was handed his full debut in Belgrade.

Solskjaer has staked his United reign on youth this season.

Mason Greenwood, Axel Tuanzebe, Angel Gomes and Taith Chong have also been handed opportunities this season after coming through the club's youth system.

But the United boss insisted: “I have put my faith in our academy because I know the talent this club can produce.

“Some people can't understand why I am gambling on young players with no experience – but I don't see it like that.

“Football is about taking risks. Playing safe isn't in Manchester United's DNA.

“This is a club that gives players a chance to prove themselves.

“We've had injuries and these lads have taken their chance.

“Do you know what? It might be tough for some of the injured players to get back in the team. I certainly won't be afraid to play them at Norwich.”
