The city council of Huelva announced Thursday that the oldest football club in Spain is set to be sold for only one euro.

According to the announcement, the Recreativo de Huelva club will be sold to settle its accumulated debts.

The Eurosamop Company has reached a deal with the city council of Huelva to buy all the club’s shares for one euro, reported the German News Agency (DPA).

The Recreativo de Huelva celebrated its 128th birthday in December. The club, which plays in the third division of the Spanish La Liga, suffers from increasing debts that reached nearly eight billion euros. This sum will be paid under the deal signed with the Eurosamop Company.
