Oldest person on Earth celebrates her 134th birthday

The woman who believes she is the oldest person on Earth has celebrated her 134th birthday.

Almihan Seyiti thinks she was born in 1886 – the year Motherwell FC were founded.

On Thursday, officials threw a banquet for her in the Uigur region of Shule in south-west China.

Local media say Almihan enjoys singing and playing musical instruments.

Married at 17 and a widow for 44 years, she is said to be in good health and can still hear and see although walking is difficult.

Almihan became China’s oldest citizen in 2013 when she was 127. She has an identity card listing her date of birth as June 25, 1886, but there are doubts about the unverifiable birth records from the era of the Guangxu emperor.

Guinness World Records said it had not been invited to independently verify Almihan’s age.

Guinness’s oldest living person, Japan’s Kane Tanaka, is 117.
