The 11-year-old rescue dog looking for a new home for the third time

A rescue centre is hoping it will be third time lucky for one dog looking for a new home in Wales.

Chief, an 11-year-old Mastiff crossbreed, was returned to the care of Dogs Trust Bridgend in January after his owners could no longer care for him.

He was first placed in the rescue centre in Pen-y-fai in February 2014, after he was found and handed in as a stray. Chief was four at the time and quickly rehomed - but returned to Dogs Trust Bridgend only a few months later.

Not long after, Chief was rehomed again to a loving family who kept him for six years.

Sadly it came to a point where the owners were no longer able to look after him, and for a second time, he found himself back in the care of the rescue centre.

Now, Chief is looking for adopters who will take him in for the rest of his life.

All he wants is somewhere to put his paws up to enjoy retirement.

He is popular amongst the team and Anna Lucey, Assistant Manager at Dogs Trust Bridgend, said, “ Chief is an absolutely fabulous boy who has found himself back in our care through no fault of his own. After more than seven months with us, we’re really hoping it’ll be third time lucky for him really soon.”

Chief struggles with arthritis which will require ongoing care, which Dogs Trust will help to support.

He is looking for a home without too many steps and a nice garden, and an owner who will be around for most of the day as he loves to be around people. It should be an adult-only home without other animals, with an experienced dog owner who can take him on quieter walks.

Anna said, “Despite his age, he’s got plenty of character and we all love him here so we’ve got our fingers crossed that the day he finds his final forever home isn’t too far away.”
