Old Trafford icon Eric Cantona's message to Catalans Dragons before Grand Final

Manchester United icon Eric Cantona has sent a message of good luck to Catalans Dragons on the eve of the Grand Final.

Cantona, dubbed 'the King' after a legendary spell at the Theatre of Dreams, took to Twitter to wish the Catalonia club well as they prepare to grace the turf he once made his own for the first time.

The Frenchman is one of United's most loved heroes after being a catalyst in their ascent to the top of English football. Now, the 55-year-old has sent off the Catalans team ahead of their historic debut at his old stomping ground.

Speaking in French, Cantona said: "Old Trafford brings luck to Catalans."

"If you didn't know, I am Catalans from my mother's side, my grandparents live someplace near Barcelona."

The Dragons are hoping to have a large following inside the ground, despite many of their fans being unable to travel from France.

Many neutrals appear set to support the French club with a campaign dubbed 'Back the Dragons' being endorsed by a number of the club's stars, including Sam Tomkins.
