Old Shettleston Road closed after crash in Glasgow's east end

A section of Old Shettleston Road has been shut down after an earlier crash.

Glasgow City Council confirmed the road, in the east end of the city, has been closed between Kenmore Street and Vesalius Street.

Police have since advised the crash, which resulted in damage to nearby gas apparatus, involved one car and that a man has since been arrested.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area in the meantime.

Glasgow City Council's Traffic Control and Management team advised at around 3.40pm this afternoon: "A section of Old Shettleston Road is currently closed to all traffic after an earlier road traffic accident which has damaged gas apparatus.

"Road users should avoid the area if possible.

"Road is currently closed between Kenmore Street and Vesalius Street."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called to Old Shettleston Road around 3pm on Sunday 28 March 2021 to reports of a one vehicle crash.

"A 27-year-old man's been arrested in relation to road traffic offences."

UPDATE: Glasgow City Council have confirmed the road has re-opened.
