Old people are not having sex because their knees and hips can't take it

Not tonight, love, I’ve got a headache... rather dodgy knees and a dicky hip.

Britain’s over-55s are missing out on sex because of age-related ailments.

They are being left frustrated because dodgy knees and dickie hips mean they are missing out on nookie.

Three quarters of the nation’s no-sexites revealed age related ailments from arthritis to tiredness are wrecking their love lives.

Two thirds of those heading for retirement confessed while they still enjoyed a spot of rumpy-pumpy, they were unable to do it as often as they wanted to.

According to the research by health supplement firm FutureYou Cambridge, a fifth said problems with their joints prevented them from having sex, a similar number said they were too tired and a fifth of men said they suffered from erectile dysfunction.

The survey of 2,000 over 55s found a fifth confessed they felt “useless” over their inability to enjoy a physical relationship with their partner and almost a third said they felt depressed when feeling old trumped desire in the bedroom.

But one in five revealed they had sought help such as consulting a sex expert or seeking medical help from their GP.

And almost half were open to trying food supplements and herbal remedies to give them back their “oomph”.

Sex therapist Kate Taylor, author of Domestic Sex Goddess said: “Intimacy is really important. Regular sex gives your physical health a giant boost.

"Regular lovemaking lowers stress, strengthens your immune system, builds muscle strength, and has even been shown to improve memory.”

Pain expert Dr Nicholas Shenker, consultant rheumatologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, said turmeric supplements with soy lecithin helped reduce inflammation that caused joint pain as the lecithin helped the body absorb the healing turmeric better.
