Old Harry Potter books are suddenly worth A LOT of money in Ireland

New data from eBay.ie has revealed that old Harry Potter books you may have lying around the house could be worth a fortune.

Whether you’re a die heart fan or have inherited some of the coveted books, you may be in for a Christmas surprise as it appears the books have increased in value significantly.

Ahead of the greatly anticipated ‘Harry Potter 20th anniversary: Return to Hogwarts’ hitting screens in the New Year, the new data has indicated that Pottermania is experiencing a wizarding revival.

Lifelong Potter readers could be sitting on untapped cash, with original editions of the books and signed copies selling for up to a whopping €5,300 on the Irish marketplace.

With over 45,000 listings on ebay.ie alone, once again, the wizarding world has cast a spell on shoppers across the country.

Searches for Harry Potter have increased by 28% in the month since the anniversary special was announced.

Across Ireland and the UK, beloved characters are whipping up interest alongside the books themselves, as searches for ‘Draco Malfoy’ have increased by 34%, five times as many as adored fan favourite ‘Ron Weasley’.

And it looks like a new generation of Potter fans are on the search for an owl of their own, with searches for Harry’s beloved pet up by 46%.

The increase in searches for Harry’s feathered friend is double those who searched for house elf Dobby, which reached 23%.

Data search traffic also revealed that there is one search every minute for ‘Harry Potter’ across the Irish and UK marketplaces, with a 69% increase in searches for Harry Potter trading cards and a 17% increase in searches for the ‘sorting hat’.

So it may be time to root out some of your old Harry Potter books as if you are willing to part with the legendary books, you could see yourself a few grand richer ahead of Christmas.
