This will no doubt bring back some pretty unwelcome memories for those of us out there of a certain 'vintage' who earned the wrath of their teachers back in the day.
A 'very rare' old leather school belt or 'tawse' has gone up for sale on eBay.
Measuring 5mm thick and approximately 115g in weight, the belt was 'used by a lady teacher in schools in the Glasgow area', according to the listing.

Made by 'P McRostie & Co, 164 Howard Street, Glasgow', the belt is 'still in good condition for its age' with 'some wear and tear and age marks', despite having had 'a lot of use', and is similar to one held in storage by the Glasgow Museums Collection.
It is being sold along with a warning that it is 'strictly not for any use', with the sale being made to 'collectors only'.
The belt is on sale for a cool £195, with the seller noting that they will post worldwide.
