Old fishmarket to become modern new bar and brasserie in Newhaven

A new modern bar and brasserie is set to open up within an old fishmarket building in Newhaven.

Pier Brasserie will be led by notable restaurant manager Mark Patonyi, who was part of the launch team at the popular Martin Wishart restaurant on the Shore in Leith and he was also manager of the Steak Restaurant at Picardy Place for five years.

Steak Restaurant's former executive chef Vladimir Garcik will be heading up the kitchen, creating seasonal menus using the very best local produce and ingredients.

The old fishmarket building is being revamped at a cost of more than £100,000 and is said to be inspired by the famous Newhaven fishwives who tended to gather there as far back as 1896.

Until 2018, the historic building was home to Italian joint Prezzo, overlooking the Newhaven lighthouse with views across all three Forth bridges.

The exciting new bar is set to open mid-February and generate extensive business for the area. All set up for the Summer, there is even an outdoor decking area which will allow for al fresco dining and cocktails.
