Old Firm stars sign painting of infamous bust-up to raise cash in memory of Shotts dad

Two of the Old Firm’s biggest stars have put their rivalry aside ahead of a charity match in memory of a beloved Shotts dad.

Celtic skipper Scott Brown and Rangers winger Ryan Kent have both signed a charity auction painting of their infamous March bust-up.

The money for the painting, which currently stands at £650, will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support and will be added to the total from the June 14 match between a Rangers Legends side and a Shotts select in memory of Gordon Thomson, who passed away last year at the age of 62.

Gordon’s brother Stuart said: “A lot was made of the incident at the time so I’m really pleased that both Scott and Ryan have signed it and already the auction has went threw the roof.

“Since we started the auction it has went viral and I’ve had hundreds of messages with the vast majority being very supportive.

“Cancer has no colours and it’s something every football fan can get behind.”

Rangers legends take on the Shotts select at Hannah Park, Shotts on Friday, June 14, at 7pm. Match tickets cost £10 (£5 for kids) are available from the Shotts Bon Accord Club, the John Murphy Shotts RSC/32 Club or on 07746 862504.
