Old classmate Theresa may tear up the rules

In the early 1970s I found myself in the same class at school as a certain Theresa Brasier, now known as Theresa May. How we all sniggered when she announced to our form teacher Mr Montgomery that she wanted to be prime minister. Well, we’re not sniggering now…

Immediately after O-levels I left that school to continue my education elsewhere. And why? Because, at the tender age of 15, Theresa had managed to persuade our headmistress to reconfigure the school’s original A-level options to accommodate the subjects of her choice.

So beware Ms Merkel, M Hollande, & co. Nothing will be impossible for our new prime minister. She’ll simply change the rules.
