OLB Sharif Finch wants be a ‘Swiss Army knife’ for Titans in 2019

A new season means new beginnings for Tennessee Titans players who want to make their impact felt this year.

One of these is outside linebacker Sharif Finch, who wants become more versatile in 2019.

“Just improving on the little things, improving on everything really,” he said in a report by the team’s Jim Wyatt. “Improving on my versatility, being great at different things, being a Swiss Army knife for this team, helping wherever I can, whether that be special teams, all the phases of the kicking game or spelling somebody on defense.”

The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder feels his performance last season what satisfactory, but there’s plenty of work left to do.

“I look back and I felt I did OK (last year), but I can improve. There’s a lot of plays I can improve. I want to be great, so I will try and improve every day.”

With the tough competition surrounding him, it’s going to take a lot of extra effort on Finch’s part to get a chance.

Edge rushers Harold Landry and Kamalei Correa are returning, and there will also Cameron Wake and D’Andre Walker to contend with, who were added in free agency and the 2019 NFL Draft, respectively.

In 2018, Finch finished the season with 27 tackles, three for loss, 1.5 sacks, two quarterback hits, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
