OLB Brooks Reed to miss ‘a few days’ with minor injury

Arizona Cardinals outside linebacker Brooks Reed has had a rough time staying healthy in training camp so far. He began camp on the physically unable to perform list with a hip injury. He was activated over the weekend but then, on Wednesday, left practice with an injury.

According to head coach Kliff Kingsbury, it isn’t a big deal and it isn’t related to the hip injury that kept him out of practice at the start of camp.

“It was something minor so he may be a few days, but he’ll be okay,” he said on Thursday.

It remains to see whether he will be back in time to play in the team’s preseason opener, which is next Thursday night at home.

In the meantime, the team recently signed veteran Andre Branch, who will play outside linebacker in the team’s defensive scheme. Reed’s absence will give him and other players at the position like Vonatrrius Dora, Cameron Malveaux and Pita Taumoepenu extra reps in practice. It could also be more time for Pete Robertson, who has been seeing practice time at outside linebacker, even though he is listed an inside backer.
