OL Justin Pugh out with shoulder injury

Injuries have hit the Arizona Cardinals offensive line in training camp. Left guard Justin Pugh left practice on Saturday late and will miss some time.

According to head coach Kliff Kingsbury, it shouldn’t set him back for long.

“It’s a shoulder but it shouldn’t be too long,” he told reporters Monday morning. “We’ll rehab him and we expect him to be back here in the next couple of weeks.”

It does mean he will miss the preseason opener. Mason Cole will start at left guard in his place.

The timing of the injury could mean he could miss the rest of the preseason as well. The Cardinals play their third preseason game in under three weeks. If Pugh is out more than two weeks, he likely would not practice enough to play in that third game. He would not play in the preseason finale.

Pugh’s injury raises questions about his durability yet again. He missed nine games last year, eight the year before and five in 2017.
