Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Kyler Murray has often been compared to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson for a number of reasons. They are similar in height. Both are mobile. Both played baseball.
Murray has yet to play a down in the NFL but teammate J.R. Sweezy, who played several seasons for the Seahawks blocking for Wilson, thinks Murray can live up to the comparisons and expectations.
“I see hundreds of similarities,” Sweezy said, according to ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss. “I always say, we got to see this guy really play. I think he’s going to be just fine. But just to even be compared to Russell Wilson is a huge compliment.”
Sweezy sees Murray make corrections. He sees a cool temperament and mentality. He thinks Murray will get there.
“He’s going to back it up. I just love that he’s getting compared to him already and everything. He’s going to be great.”
Wilson has been one of the top QBs in the league for years. He is incredibly consistent. He is clutch. He is a winner. He is productive.
If Murray ends up being comparable to Wilson, the Cardinals will have gotten themselves a star.
