Oktoberfest to return to Newcastle for 11 day event with karaoke, bingo, darts and DJs

After coronavirus thwarted plans for the event last year, Oktoberfest will be back in Newcastle this year for a massive 11 day long event.

And as well as the obligatory lederhosen, steins of beer and oompah bands, there will be crazy bingo, a huge darts party, mass singalongs and plenty of DJs providing an eclectic soundtrack.

Oktoberfest Newcastle is once again taking over Times Square thanks to the same team who brought us Paddy Fest in years gone by and hugely popular city centre beer garden Central Park this summer.

The outdoor space became a mecca for England fans during Euro 2020, as well as hosting a big Eurovision screening party and a Disco Festival, the latter happening just after Covid restrictions ended across the UK.

Restrictions will hopefully still be a distant memory come October 15 when Oktoberfest 2021 kicks off, running right through to October 24 - boasting nights dedicated to the likes of Kroud Karaoke and Lets Play Darts.

Mike Hesketh from organisers ‘wo Tribes Org told ChronicleLive: "After such an amazing Summer with Central Park we were itching to get back to Times Square, and after our 2019 event which sold out, we had to come back with our lederhosen and steins!

“This time we have doubled the size of the tent, added more décor, more benches and more sessions so more people of the North East can come join in the fun over two weekends this year!

"Fancy dress in strongly encouraged so is set to be a great party for people to enjoy”

Tickets for Oktoberfest Newcastle go on sale at 10am on Wednesday, August 25 from the Oktoberfest Newcastle website.

Prices start from £10 per person which includes your first beer.

There are also options to add on food like bratwurst and currywurst sausages as you take your seat on one of 100+ benches that will fill Oktoberfest's covered Bavarian style beer hall.
