Why McNeese Will Win
The Cowboys have a whole lot of weapons. The offense might not be high-powered enough to keep up in a big shootout, but it’s able to spread the ball around well and – at least in the opener – it’s great at taking the ball away.
McNeese was outplayed by Southern in the 34-28 win, but it came up with five takeaways, took advantage of the opportunities, and overcame its own mistakes to pull it off. To keep this close against the other Cowboys, the defense will once again have to pounce on every loose ball, because …
Why Oklahoma State Will Win
Oklahoma State will go off right away, and McNeese won’t be able to keep up.
McNeese needed every one of those takeaways last week with a sputtering offense and 16 penalties, and it’s not going to force five turnovers this week.
Oklahoma State was humming from the start in the win over Oregon State, with Spencer Sanders taking target practice with three touchdown passes and 109 yards on the ground, and with Chuba Hubbard tearing off 221 rushing yards and three scores.
The defense didn’t do too much to stop Oregon State, but it didn’t matter. The Cowboys were able to keep their foot on the gas and stay ahead. They can end this after a quarter, and McNeese won’t have the pop to come back.

What’s Going To Happen
Oklahoma State will get out to a quick start, and then all the key parts will get a rest. This will be when Dru Brown gets more work in the quarterback job, Hubbard will get plenty of rest, and it’ll be a light day with plenty of fireworks for a half.
