Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield arrested, charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield was arrested in Arkansas early Saturday morning and faces three charges.

Mayfield was charged with public intoxication and charged with a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, a felony count of fleeing the scene and misdemeanor count of resisting arrest, according to the Washington County arrest report,

Mayfield was released after posting bond late Saturday afternoon. His next hearing is set for Monday.

The preliminary police report stated officers responded to an assault and battery report at 2:29 a.m. Saturday morning. Officers found Mayfield and another party in a heated argument. Mayfield's speech was "slurred," according to the officers, and when he was asked to speak with them, he walked away. When asked to stop, Mayfield reportedly took off running.

Mayfield started the past two seasons at Oklahoma, leading the Sooners to a 22-4 record including back-to-back Big 12 titles and a spot in the College Football Playoff semifinals in 2015.

He's combined for more than 8,000 yards of total offense and 89 total touchdowns during his time in Norman.

Oklahoma begins spring practice on March 21.

According to ESPN's Jake Trotter, Oklahoma released a statement saying, "We are aware of the matter and are learning the details. We don't have any other information at this time."

Early this week, Mayfield was listed as an early favorite by odds-makers Bovada to win the 2017 Heisman Trophy.
