Okinawa residents honor victims of World War II battle

Families of war dead from the Battle of Okinawa pray in front of the Cornerstone of Peace in the Peace Memorial Park in Itoman, Okinawa Prefecture, on Saturday. The day marked the 73rd anniversary of the end of organized combat in the battle on June 23, 1945. About 5,100 people attended a ceremony in the park to pay tribute to victims of the conflict.
