OKC announces Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari acqusitions

It may seem like it happened over a month ago, but the Paul George trade to the Los Angeles Clippers — which was only reported on early Saturday morning — had yet to be made official. The Thunder announced the departure of George on Wednesday, as well as the players who will call Oklahoma City home in 2018-19, combined with multiple assets.

While the Thunder gave up an MVP-caliber player, they were reportedly set to acquire Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, three unprotected first-round picks from the Clippers (2022, 2024 and 2026), two more which initially belonged to Miami (2021 unprotected and 2023 protected 1 through 14) and the right to swap picks with the Clippers in 2023 and 2025.

The Thunder confirmed the pieces in a release on Wednesday, while also pointing out the team now has a $10.4 million trade exception as a result of the move.

The news came shortly after the Thunder announce the signing of veteran free agent big man Mike Muscala.
