
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation said on Friday that it was following with great concern the developments of the situation in Afghanistan, calling on all Afghan parties to put an end to violence,
It also called for implementing a permanent ceasefire and speeding up negotiations in order to end the conflict.
"In light of the critical circumstances that Afghanistan is going through, the General Secretariat further calls on all parties to work towards achieving reconciliation and establishing lasting peace in Afghanistan, for the welfare of the people of Afghanistan," read an OIC official statement.
"The General Secretariat affirms the organization’s keenness and readiness to continue to contribute to the peace, reconciliation and development process in Afghanistan to ensure the return of stability," the statement added.
It further recalled relevant decisions and resolutions on Afghanistan adopted by the OIC Summit and meetings of the Council of Foreign Ministers as well as the Makkah Declaration issued on 11 July 2018, by the International Ulama Conference on peace and stability in Afghanistan.
