The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen, stressed the importance of providing urgent assistance to those affected by floods in Yemen's Aden.

He highlighted the role played by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and Yemen’s partners from countries, organizations, agencies, and United Nations organizations in providing this urgent aid.

Al-Othaimeen called on member states and humanitarian institutions to take the initiative to provide humanitarian assistance to affected Yemenis.

Floods in Yemen had caused heavy losses of life, property, and displaced many people.

Earlier this week, the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) kicked off plans to implement urgent action to relief the people of Aden to overcome the torrential floods.

Separately, to support the education sector in Yemen, SDRPY also launched two projects to furnish 32 schools in each of Al-Mahrah and Socotra, benefiting more than 8,000 students annually.

It aims to equip and build model schools to improve school environment and raise the efficiency of good learning opportunities for all students.

The project in Socotra governorate covered the needs of 27 schools of seats and study tables, benefiting 4,000 students.

While the project in Al-Mahrah Governorate provided five educational facilities with furniture to the classrooms, offices and school facilities, including tables, chairs laboratories and blackboard for each class, in addition to providing teachers and administrative rooms with offices, shelves and meeting tables, benefiting 4,000 students.
