Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs and Special Envoy of the OIC Secretary-General to Afghanistan Tarig Ali Bakhiet has met with Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Antonio Vitorino, at the IOM’s headquarters in Geneva, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.
Thursday's meeting highlighted the critical importance of migration for the Jeddah-based Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and explored ways and means to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two sides, including through an enhanced framework of engagement, SPA said.
The two parties emphasized the need to scale up joint action to implement emergency assistance and address the root causes of migration, it added.
