Ohio (0-0) vs. Rhode Island (0-0) Game Preview

Why Rhode Island Will Win

Rhode Island came up with a nice 2018 season with a winning record, giving UConn a massive push along the way in a 56-49 loss.

The Rams have a nice group of skill players with a strong receiver in Aaron Parker and a solid rushing tandem of Zoe Bryant and Naim Jones. Overall, the offense should be able to provide a push, all while the Ohio offense has to rebuild a bit after losing seven starters.

Why Ohio Will Win

The secondary is going to be fantastic. Javon Hagan is one of the nation’s best safeties, and he’s not along in a secondary that should be great at taking the ball away in bunches.

Rhode Island’s offense might be good, but the pass protection was sketchy last season and should be an issue again early on this year. The passing game will be efficient at times, and it should be able to keep the chains moving, the Bobcat D will hold its own just enough to let the offense do its thing.

The Rams don’t have an answer for Ohio QB Nathan Rourke.

What’s Going To Happen

This isn’t a given.

Ohio might be the best team in the MAC, but Rhode Island is a good, sound, veteran team that won’t be fazed by the road game against an FBS program.

The Rams will score, but the Bobcat offense will come through when it has to in the fourth quarter to get out alive in a fight – remember, Ohio only beat Howard 38-32 to start last season – deep into the second half.
