Ohio State wrestling team completes final wrestle offs ahead of season opener

The Ohio State wrestling team will be in action for real on November 2, but until then, fans were treated with a dose of the university’s best in the wrestle offs.

The matchup to watch was two-time All-American Luke Pletcher taking on Quinn Kinner, a New Jersey state champ. Pletcher came out on top.

As expected Kollin Moore, one of the best wrestlers in the country, came out on top of well. Moore will be entering his senior season with an elite 83-11 record and coming off just a three-loss junior season.

Here is a copy of the results that were released by a team report. It was of course a great opportunity for a large crowd to get a chance to see the Buckeye wrestlers in their new home of the Covelli Center, and now it’s time to get these guys cranked up and ready for another run at a championship.

125 lbs | Malik Heinselman def. Hunter Lucas | D, 7-2
133 lbs | Jordan Decatur def. Dylan Koontz | MD, 13-4
141 lbs | Luke Pletcher def. Quinn Kinner | D, 7-3
149 lbs | Sammy Sasso def. Trey Grenier | MD, 20-7
157 lbs | Elijah Cleary def. Jaden Mattox | TB1, 4-2
165 lbs | Carson Kharchla def. Ethan Smith | D, 3-2
174 lbs | Rocky Jordan def. Kaleb Romero | TB1, 2-1
184 lbs | Zach Steiner def. Gavin Hoffman | D, 5-4
197 lbs | Kollin Moore def. Tyler Stein | TF, 19-4

This was a successful preseason for the Buckeyes. That said, it’ll be just a few days until the team takes on Michigan State to open the season.
