Ohio State wrestling qualifies all ten weight classes for the NCAA Championships

It may not have been the season the Ohio State wrestling team wanted, but there’s still an opportunity to finish things off the right way in the NCAA Championships.

Ohio State suffered a surprising defeat to Michigan during the regular season, then got hammered by No. 1 Penn State to have any shot of a regular-season Big Ten title slip through its fingers. It then finished second to the Nittany Lions in the Big Ten Championships last weekend.

Now comes the nationals and Ohio State has more wrestlers taking part than any other program in the country. That’s because the Buckeyes’ wrestlers qualified in all ten weight classes.

That doesn’t mean the Buckeyes will walk away with a national title, but with so many wrestlers in the field, it might have the best chance of any team to hang with a loaded No. 1 Penn State team that’s sending nine wrestlers of its own to Pittsburgh.

Here’s the entire list of Ohio State wrestlers and seeding for the upcoming tournament set to take place next week from March 21-23.

125 lbs. — No. 26 seed Malik Heinselman

133 lbs. — No. 5 seed Luke Pletcher

141 lbs. — No. 2 seed Joey McKenna

149 lbs. — No. 2 seed Micah Jordan

157 lbs. — No. 11 seed Ke-Shawn Hayes

165 lbs. — No. 21 seed Te’Shan Campbell

174 lbs. — No. 19 seed Ethan Smith

184 lbs. — No. 1 seed Myles Martin

197 lbs. — No. 2 seed Kollin Moore

Heavyweight — No. 16 seed Chase Singletary

It must be noted that Ohio State is the only program to qualify in all ten weight classes. It speaks to the depth of the team, and now it’s time to see how it all plays out.
