Ohio State WR commit Julian Fleming runner up for fastest man at The Opening Finals

When Ohio State landed the 2020 class’ top rated wide-receiver, it sent a buzz across the landscape of college football recruiting. Julian Fleming’s athleticism, length, and ball skills were discussed at length. So too was his underrated and efficient ability to run away from guys.

Apparently that was underplayed a bit.

While competing in drills at The Opening Finals this week, the best of the best college football prospects took part in the fastest man contest. All Fleming did was surprise many by finishing second overall to Notre Dame commit Chris Tyree.

Watch the final below between the two in which Tyree inches out Fleming at the line.

The Ohio State coaches knew they got an elite talent when Fleming committed, but just wait until coach Mick gets him in the door and works on that raw speed a little. Yeah, he might be deceptively fast, but there’s more than deception in play here.

I for one can’t wait to see him with Garrett Wilson and the other top flight wide-receivers that will be suiting up for Ohio State here over the next few years frustrate opposing secondaries.
