In normal times (hint: we are not in them), this is the time of year in which we’d be all over Ohio State players participating in the NFL combine as we prepare for the 2021 NFL draft. However, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, things are different. There will be a so-called NFL combine, but it will look far different than what we’ve seen in the past. It will be a virtual event with team interviews and psychological-type testing, and that’s about it. The staple of all the shenanigans — on-field workouts and drills — will not be in the special sauce that goes into making the annual spectacle.
Still, invites have gone out, and bragging rights are on the line because anytime someone’s keeping score in something you’re involved in, why not try to win, right?
On that note, the NFL released the names of the 323 combine invitations on Wednesday, and Ohio State leads all programs with fourteen players that received the call. Alabama, Georgia, and Notre Dame all tied for second place with 11 invites each.
The fourteen Buckeyes taking part in the combine are Tuf Borland, Baron Browning, Drue Chrisman, Jonathon Cooper, Wyatt Davis, Luke Farrell, Justin Fields, Blake Haubeil, Justin Hilliard, Josh Myers, Trey Sermon, Tommy Togiai, Shaun Wade, and Pete Werner.

You won’t get to watch any of the 40-times, shuttle runs, or other drills, but there’s something to be said about so many guys garnering interest from the NFL. By the way, Michigan has eight players invited, so take that — again.
