According to a report from Austin Ward of Lettermen Row, Ohio State defensive tackle Haskell Garrett is out this spring due to an undisclosed injury.
Garrett shared a post on social media of him getting around on a scooter, but the extent and diagnosis is not officially known. Ohio State has made it a practice and policy to not disclose injuries because of the health privacy of its student-athletes. He is expected to be fully healthy when the fall season rolls around.
The veteran defensive tackle has had to come back from more severe circumstances, so this should be just a speed bump along the way. Last offseason, Garrett was shot in the face trying to break up a physical altercation between a man and a woman on campus in late August but surprised everyone by being ready to play when the season finally kicked off on October 24.
Not only was Garrett a contributor, but he also had a bit of a breakout campaign and was a force in the middle of the defensive line. In a shortened season, he quickly became a leader and major producer on defense. He then made the decision to take advantage of the NCAA’s allowance for an extra year of eligibility because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He will be leaned on heavily this season and we can’t wait to see what a guy that has already overcome so much does in 2021.
