I have all these thoughts flying around in my head, and they have to go somewhere, so why not here? Before every game, if it goes well, we’ll provide a mindless brain dump of all the things that you might want to think of for the upcoming game — or at least what I’m thinking of. Take it or leave it I say.
Some of those thoughts might be humorous, some outlandish, some just factual, and some nondescript and boring. Either way, we provide our final thoughts just before all the fun on the gridiron for Ohio State each week. This time we’re talking Wisconsin in what looks like a messy and rainy Saturday noon game with everyone watching.
- I know Michigan is the big, bad rival for Ohio State, but doesn’t Wisconsin scare you more these days? I mean the Badgers put their khakis on one leg at a time just like the Wolverines, but they actually fill them out.
- Better running back, J.K. Dobbins or Jonathan Taylor? You’re inclined to say the Wisconsin stud right? I don’t blame you, but It’s really close. Dobbins averages more yards per carry and is probably a little quicker out of the gate. Yet, I’d say Taylor has a faster straight line, more strength and great vision. Ah, who am I kidding, we’re splitting hairs here. Take either one and be happy right?
- Speaking of which, you have to believe that whichever team whens the rushing battle notches the win here. Especially seeing how there’s supposed to be some wet rain during the game. Yes, I said wet rain. What other kind is there?
- Which, come to think of it, I’m not sure I’ve seen Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields operate in wet conditions. Will he look like an Olympic swimmer or sunken treasure? We shall see.
- Advantage Wisconsin if it gets to be sloppy and wet Saturday? I say yes. It takes some of the skill and athleticism of Ohio State and evens the playing field a bit in my opinion.
- Hey Wisconsin — what happened last week? Seriously, how does that happen. Oh wait, ahem — Purdue and Iowa come to mind.
- Remember this: The last 6 of 7 meetings between Ohio State and Wisconsin have been decided by a touchdown or less. The lone exception is when the Buckeyes beat the Badgers a Bazillion to nothing in the Big Ten Championship Game of 2014. Oh the memories.

- How can you not fall in love with a state that gives you cheese, brats, and beer? I don’t know why, but that just popped into my head and I’m sorry for that.
- Best cheese? I say sharp cheddar. What say you? Ohio produces the most Swiss cheese of any state including Wisconsin, so let’s go there eh?
- Will Wisconsin ever get over that hump and go play for all the marbles? So far, recruiting to a type has done wonders for the program, but I say there won’t be a College Football Playoff on the table until it can get an upgrade at the skill positions — especially a real difference maker at quarterback.
- All the talk coming into this one is the matchup between Ohio State’s offense and Wisconsin’s defense, but it might be the Buckeye defense that is the difference maker in this one.
- Boy, Illinois sure spoiled this party didn’t it? I mean BTN Tailgate will be on hand, Urban Meyer and the FOX Big Noon Kickoff Show will be there, and then boom. I guess you can’t have a party without Champaign after all.
- Let it be known that my next bucket list stadium to go to is Camp Randall. I want to see Jump Around in person. I just do so don’t crucify me. Okay?
- I have to admit, I kind of enjoy watching Wisconsin play. It’s an old-school feel and it feels like a man-against-man macho challenge to outlast and overwhelm the other team. Add that to the weather and this one should be fun — unless Ohio State loses of course. That would not be fun.
