Ohio State (3-0) vs. Miami University (1-2) Game Preview

Why Miami University Will Win

To keep this from getting ugly in a hurry, the RedHawks have to get to Justin Fields and try forcing a slew of key mistakes.

MU is doing a decent job of taking the ball away with five force turnovers, and that’s coming from a good pass rush and plays behind the line creating problems.

There have been issues against the FBS teams so far – getting rolled by Iowa and Cincinnati – but the secondary can tackle, freshman QB Brett Gabbert has hitting on a few big plays as he gets is feet wet as the new face of the franchise, and there’s just enough at receiver to give the Buckeyes a wee bit of a push for a few drives, but …

Why Ohio State Will Win

There won’t be any RedHawk running game, the MU offensive line has been a disaster, and there’s just no chance to get back in the game if the Buckeyes get hot right away and come up with a few big touchdown drives in the first quarter.

What’s Going To Happen

Miami gets hit by too many penalties and doesn’t have enough scoring pop to make this interesting after the first quarter. It all depends on how much Ohio State cares. It won’t be the 80-0 OSU wipeout of 1904 when these two first met – they’ve only played four times – but it could be if the Buckeyes want it that way.
