Why Maryland Will Win
There’s NO way this can happen again, right?
It might have been the best game of 2018 – or right up there. Maryland was on a bad run three losses in four games, but the running game had its moments. Ohio State was still reeling from a shocking loss to Purdue, and it was still battling for the College Football Playoff and Big Ten title.
It took everything the Buckeyes had to get out with a 52-51 after being run over, around, and through for 339 yards and five touchdowns.
Now the Terps get to play giant killer, but this time, it’s against the College Football Playoff No. 1 team.
Star RB Anthony McFarland – who tore off almost 300 rushing yards in last year’s game – is just finding his stride from an ankle injury, there’s just enough explosive potential in the offense to find the ground game again against a team that might come in a wee bit puffy-chested, and overall, the Terps can play like there’s nothing to lose.
There’s just enough of a pass rush to be more than a wee bit of a bother for Justin Fields, and …

Why Ohio State Will Win
Yeah, that whole Maryland ground game thing isn’t really working.
The Terps got it all going early in the season, but it only managed 200 yards once over the last seven games – against Rutgers.
There’s still enough pop to be dangerous – McFarland is the real deal – but there’s no passing game to take the heat off, there aren’t any long marches to calm things down, and the team has a miserable penchant for not being able to finish off drives with points.
The focus will be on Chase Young after his brilliant performance against Wisconsin, but this game will be about JK Dobbins and the running game. The Buckeyes have been blasting again, and this should be ugly fast against a Maryland defensive front that’s been carved up over the last three games for well over five yards per carry.

What’s Going To Happen
Ohio State is going to really, really care.
The team has made a point to stay ultra-focused and not let there be that dud like it had last year against Purdue or in College Park. There appears to be the perfect mix of swagger and focus – remember, the guys on this team haven’t done anything in the College Football Playoff.
