It’s easy to focus on the results on the field, but often we need a reminder about the athlete portion of “student-athlete.” These kids wearing the scarlet and gray and doing great things in competitive environments are also balancing a heavy workload in the classroom.
Success in the latter should be celebrated, and so we are doing just that.
Ohio state continues to shine in this area. In fact, it led the Big Ten and set a record for the most Academic All-Big Ten Honorees. Of the 1,824 total student-athletes recognized for the spring, a whopping 237 wear the colors Scarlet and Gray.
The Buckeyes also set an all-time Big Ten record with a total of 449 Academic All-Big Ten honorees for the entire year, shattering the old record OSU set last year of 339.

It’s been a year to forget for a lot of reasons when it comes to news off the playing surface, but there are some good things going on outside of all of that. This is one example and should be highlighted.
