Ohio State to use Silver Bullet Boom Ball prop this fall?

It appears Ohio State might be looking at taking a page out of the Miami Hurricanes trinket reward system this year. If you’ve been anywhere a college football television set over the last couple of years, there’s no doubt you are familiar with the “turnover chain” the Hurricanes use when a defensive player gets a turnover.

It might be a little cheesy, and you have to wonder just how much that bling is worth, but it seems to get everyone all lathered up and engaged in the task at hand. Many others have tried to copy it a bit, and it appears as though something similar might be coming to a football game near you in Columbus.

That’s because graduate assistant Kenny Anunike has proposed the idea of a Silver Bullet Boom ball.

Though the details are a little sketchy, it appears to be related to just the defensive side of the ball with players earning it based on a point system.

There’s no word on how long a player will have it, or what that full point system will be, but hopefully it’s less confusing than many of those reward systems rolled out by companies where 30,000 points will earn you a stick of gum — used.

So be on the lookout for this ball this fall. It’s doubtful if it’s kept in a lock and key chest like the turnover chain, but you can bet we’ll be hearing more about this beauty as the season gets underway in the fall.
