Ohio State to travel to UNC for ACC/Big Ten Challenge this year

Now here’s a game that’s not hard to get excited about. If you’ve been following the predictions for Ohio State basketball this year, you know that a lot of so-called experts believe the Buckeyes have a shot at being a top ten team. Well, apparently the folks that organize the ACC/Big Ten Challenge have also taken note.

Admittedly, these matchups are hard to figure out. There’s always an effort to try and match similar type programs to make it competitive, but with the one-and-dones and all that goes with the turnover in rosters from year-to-year, it can be tough to forecast the best teams to square off against each other.

But it’s clear that many are drinking the Scarlet and Gray Kool-Aid because Ohio State’s matchup in this years challenge is none other than the big, bad Carolina program that’s the bluest of bloods in the sport, and expected to contend for the biggest of things out there again in the 2019-20 season.

That’s right. Just announced today are all the pairings for the annual grudge match between arguably the two best historical hoops conferences from top to bottom, and Ohio State will be traveling to Chapel Hill to play in the Dean Dome on December 4.

Here’s the rest of the matchups per Jon Rothstein that will be a part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

The game times and which ESPN network these all appear on will get finalized at a later date, but Ohio State continues to put together a formidable non-conference schedule that also includes home games against Villanova and Cincinnati.

The Buckeyes are just 1-11 all-time against the Tar Heels, the lone win coming in the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen back in 1992 when Jimmy Jackson and gang were running around.
