Ohio State spring game rosters announced

We are less than 24 hours away from the Ohio State returning to the ‘Shoe in front of at least some fans from the general public. It’ll be the first time that’s happened since the Buckeyes took on Penn State all the way back on November 23, 2019. And while there will only be about 19,000 fans that will get to witness the game of American football in the old stadium on the banks of the Olentangy, it is a reminder that maybe we’re coming out of the dark cloud of the coronavirus pandemic.

Aside from that, there is some football to talk about, and we’re passing along what the rosters will be for Saturday’s glorified scrimmage. This year, the teams have been divided up in into Team Brutus and Team Buckeye as opposed to the traditional Scarlet and Gray.

So let’s get to it. You can see who all is on Team Brutus here, and what players make up team Buckeye here.

It looks like two evenly matched teams on paper (literally), but it must be noted that the format is one that is a little different. The first half will be a traditional competitive game between the two squads with stoppages of play. In the second half, things will flip to an offense vs. defense format with a running clock. Ryan Day has already said there will no tackling, so this is really just a chance to kick the rust off, get into that big, beautiful stadium, and just enjoy being back at it again.

But make no mistake, this is a chance for players fighting for positions to make a name for themselves in an environment as close to a game-like setting as possible, so it does carry some weight.

We’ll of course have coverage of the game and analysis before, during, and after, so stay with us throughout.
