Ohio State softball team will be No. 4 seed in B1G Tournament

It’s been a season to remember for the Ohio State softball team, and it isn’t over yet. The top three teams in the Big Ten separated themselves from the rest of the league and kind of ran away and hid, but the Buckeyes were just a cut below, finishing the regular season with an overall record of 34-15 and a conference record of 17-6. It’s the latter mark that earned Ohio State the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Big Ten Softball Tournament set to take place this weekend in Bloomington, Indiana.

By finishing in the top four, the Buckeyes receive a bye into the second round and will face the winner of No. 5 seed Wisconsin and No. 12 seed Iowa Friday at 11 AM. Should it win that game, it’ll go on to the semifinals for a potential rematch with No. 1 seed Michigan. Ohio State was the only Big Ten team to beat the Wolverines this year.

It would be an upset to do so again.

The Buckeyes also sit in a good spot as far as receiving an invite to the NCAA Softball Tournament, but first things first — there’s business to be done this weekend and getting past Wisconsin or Iowa won’t be easy to start things off.
