Ohio State softball sweeps nationally ranked Indiana with 2-0 victory Sunday

Indiana came into Columbus on a roll with a 25-6 record and No. 22/20 ranking, but that didn’t matter to Ohio State. The Buckeyes were the better team all weekend, finishing off a three-game sweep by way of a hard-fought 2-0 victory Sunday.

There wasn’t much offense for either team with a total of just six hits between the two teams. The Buckeyes finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when Lilli Piper walked, and then Emily Clark doubled down the left-field line to give the Buckeyes the lead 1-0.

Freshman Kaitlyn Coffman then singled up the middle to bring Clark home and finish the scoring in the fourth inning, and the game. The Buckeyes were able to use solid defense to hang on to the 2-0 lead.

Morgan Ray went the distance for Ohio State on the mound, giving up just two hits and no runs for her eighth win of the season.

With the win, Ohio State improves to 3-0 in the Big Ten and 18-9 overall. The Buckeyes will hit the road to take on Kentucky Wednesday before stepping back into conference this upcoming weekend.
