Ohio State softball sweeps Michigan State in weekend series

The Ohio State softball team’s bats stayed alive Sunday en route to a public flogging and run rule of the Michigan State Spartans 11-1. It was a three-game sweep for the Buckeyes who continue to keep pace among the upper four teams of the league.

The Buckeyes got to the Spartans pitching early and often, hitting a total of four home-runs and fourteen hits. And it didn’t seem to matter what pitcher the Spartans used, OSU had the answer each time.

The big inning was the third inning for Ohio State. Already up 2-1, it brought all nine batters up and plated five runs on three home runs — two coming in back-to-back fashion with Lilli Piper going deep followed by Emily Clark.

Morgan Ray started in the circle and got her fourteenth win of the season while holding the Spartans to just one run on two hits.

The Buckeyes continue to pile up wins, now sitting at 29-14 overall, and 12-5 in the Big Ten. OSU’s next game is Friday against Illinois at home to start a three-game weekend series.
