Ohio State softball: Lilli Piper and Emily Clark named to NFCA All-American teams

It has been quite the career in Columbus for two players that have been tied together since high school age travel ball in Ohio. Seniors Lilli Piper and Emily Clark have been the two main cogs in the Buckeye offense, and up the middle of the infield during the last few seasons for Ohio State.

They both have come up with big hits, been unquestioned leaders on the team and will even continue their softball careers together. They both were drafted in the National Pro Fastpitch draft right adjacent to each other this spring by the Cleveland Comets.

Their time at Ohio State came to a close after a loss to North Carolina in the Knoxville Regional of the 2019 NCAA Softball Tournament, but that doesn’t mean the accolades are complete.

In fact, both were just named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American teams Thursday. Piper was named to the second team — her third-straight selection — with a career .419 batting average. Her power numbers were down a little this year, but she still holds the single-season OSU home run record of 20 last season.

And, not to be outdone, Clark was named to the third-team. She has had a whopping 169 career RBIs and was an anchor behind Piper in the batting order.

Congratulations to both ladies as they become the 12th and 13th All-Americans in Ohio State softball history.
