Ohio State softball earns NCAA berth

The Ohio State softball team got the news it expected on Sunday and received an at-large invite to the NCAA tournament and will be to the Knoxville Regional.

Being in Knoxville, obviously the No. 1 seed in the region is the Tennessee Volunteers, but OSU did receive the No. 2 seed and will take on Oregon State in the first game of a double-elimination four-team regional on Friday. The other team in the region is Campbell.

The Buckeyes are headed to the NCAA tournament for the fifth time since 2016, all under head coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly. The stretch of five regional berths in seven seasons is the best in program history.

Ohio State finished in sixth place in the Big Ten, but head to the tournament with a 35-15 overall record, fresh off a run to the semifinals of the Big Ten tournament this past week.

If you haven’t picked up watching college softball yet, we urge you to do so. The game is fast and exciting and we’ll have coverage of how the Buckeyes do as they embark on a journey to Tennessee, and perhaps beyond.
