Ohio State softball beats Pacific after losing game one against UCSB Saturday

The Ohio State softball team has had an up and down start to the season, but it finished on a high note on Saturday after losing to UCSB earlier in the day. Niki Carver hit a grand slam to give the Buckeyes the lead in the top of the sixth, and that was enough to hold up for a 6-2 victory over Pacific.

The Tigers started the scoring off with a run in the top of the 3rd inning on an RBI single to go up 1-0.

The Buckeyes quickly answered in the top of the 4th inning though when Avery Clark smoked a two-run homer down the right-field line for a 2-1 lead. But it didn’t hold up for long. Pacific got another run back in the bottom of the inning thanks to an error, and things were suddenly knotted up at two runs apiece.

That’s when Carver did the damage and put Ohio State up by four. Pacific was able to load the bases in the bottom of the 7th inning, but a ground ball out ended the threat and the Buckeyes walked away victorious.

With the win, Ohio State improves its record to 5-7. It’ll be in action again on Sunday against UIC at Noon.
