Ohio State has had a slew of players show up on all the college football preseason watch lists so far, but it’s not done yet. On Monday, the 2019 Jim Thorpe Award preseason watch list came out, and safety Jordan Fuller is included among the 46 athletes to start the year.
As a reminder, this list can and will change. There are other players added throughout the season, so it’s highly possible there will be more OSU players and/or others in the Big Ten on subsequent releases.
The Thorpe Award has been handed out since 1986, and goes to the best defensive back annually in college football. It is voted on by the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame. Like many of the college football awards, it will be handed out on the Home Depot College Awards show on ESPN December 12.
The Buckeye program has had two Jim Thorpe Award winners since its inception. Antoine Winfield won it in 1998, and Malcolm Jenkins took the honor in 2008.
