The Ohio State softball team went 4-0 over the weekend largely because of some great pitching. But you can’t win games on defense and pitching alone, you have to be able to get big hits and score some runs.
It’s a good thing then that the Buckeyes have freshman Kaitlyn Coffman. The freshman outfielder has been on an absolute tear lately, and she was just recognized as the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Week Monday.
The stats don’t lie. Over the weekend, Coffman had a .538 batting average that included a grand slam, ten RBIs and a 1.077 slugging percentage.
I think it’s time to go out on a limb here and state that Coffman is destined for a pretty special career at Ohio State.
