April 02--Well before Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones rose from the third string to guide the Buckeyes the Big 10 title, a College Football Playoff victory and the national championship, his college career was marked by a single, unforgettable tweet.
"Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS," a then-unknown Jones fired off in October of 2012.
The reaction was swift. In less than 140 characters, Jones had gone from a no-name, first-year player to infamous.
Since then, Jones' life has drastically changed after emerging from the hospital ward that was the Ohio State quarterbacks unit to lead the Buckeyes to their eighth national championship. Now he's a celebrity, taking pictures with fans everywhere he goes, and he had everyone on the edge of their seats when he announced he would return to Ohio State for another year.
Winning has a funny way of changing people's perceptions.
On Thursday, he noted his growth.

Jones hasn't given up on social media but said he had changed how he approaches it.
"Just really watching what I tweet, and every once in a while search my name in the Twitter bar to see what people [are] saying about me," Jones told Sports Illustrated. "Just being cautious because once I put it out there, it's not coming back."
He would know.
